hyundai and kia recall Page 2

Yes, Hyundai and Kia have logged multiple recalls in Australia in recent years, and a few of them involve fiery tempers from electrical bits. The recurring themes span brake control modules, tow‑bar wiring, seat‑belt pretensioners and the occasional engine or transmission software strop.

• ABS/HECU brake module short‑circuit risk that can cause overheating or fire; dealers fit a relay/fuse, inspect, or replace as required.
• Genuine tow‑bar wiring harness modules that can overheat; campaigns add fusing and updated harnesses.
• Seat‑belt pretensioners that may deploy with metal fragments; dealers fit caps and revise software.
• Engine bearing wear or stalling in some GDI/Theta‑family engines; inspections, ECU updates or engine repair/replacement.
• DCT/IVT transmission control software updates to prevent loss of power or harsh behaviour.

Recalls are free fixes, so book the dealer and let them do the wrenching; if they dither, politely wave the recall notice like a traffic wand. To check your exact car, use the VIN lookup on the brands’ sites or the Product Safety Australia database, and schedule the repair—no dramas.
