hyundai kona competition Page 2

The Hyundai Kona’s competition in Australia is the bustling small-SUV brigade: Kia Seltos, Mazda CX-30, Toyota Corolla Cross, Nissan Qashqai, Volkswagen T-Roc, Skoda Kamiq, Honda HR-V, MG ZS and Haval Jolion.

Each has a party trick: CX-30 is polished and plush; Seltos is roomy and sharp value; Corolla Cross sips like a budgie thanks to hybrids; Qashqai rides comfortably with slick tech; T-Roc is a hoot to drive; Kamiq is neat and practical. Budget champs MG ZS and Jolion pile on kit and long warranties, while the Volvo XC40 sometimes gets cross-shopped if you fancy a premium badge. The latest Kona grew in size, but boot space and rear-seat room still vary by rival, so take a tape measure and your tallest mate. Want thrift? Go hybrid; want shove? Aim for the turbo variants.
