Forgot your car insurer? Relax—happens to the best of us, usually right after the renewal email did a Houdini.

• Search your email for “renewal”, “policy”, or the usual suspects (AAMI, NRMA, Allianz, Budget Direct, etc.).
• Scan bank/credit card statements for monthly or annual debits; the merchant name is your smoking gun.
• Check the glovebox for a policy certificate or letter; some insurers still mail real paper, like it’s 2004.
• Use your state rego lookup to confirm your CTP/Green Slip details (in Victoria it’s TAC); if you bundled comprehensive with that provider, call them.
• Still blank? Ring your previous insurer or the Insurance Council of Australia for guidance on next steps.

Once you’ve found it, stash the policy number in your phone and cloud notes so Future You can get on with life.
