After the 2008 merger the IndyCar comeback fizzled—A1GP was meant to fill 2009, promptly collapsed—and the open-wheel circus never returned.

The circuit still roars each spring, but it’s a Supercars weekend now (the Gold Coast 500) with the usual support card and sunburn.
