isuzu d'max 2023 review Page 3

The 2023 Isuzu D‑MAX is the workmate that shows up early, lifts heavy, and still remembers to bring the snacks.

Its 3.0‑litre turbodiesel (140 kW/450 Nm), up to 3,500 kg braked towing and ~1,000–1,200 kg payload make it properly capable, while a 6‑speed auto and 4x4 low range keep the tough stuff simple. Consult official documentation for exact figures.

On-road it’s steady and secure, if a touch firm unladen; off-road it’s happier than a kelpie at the beach.

Cabin is hard-wearing, tech is straightforward (CarPlay/Android Auto, decent safety suite), and ANCAP 5‑star means you don’t need to white‑knuckle every school zone.

Pros: durability, towing confidence, safety kit. Cons: diesel clatter, pricier upper trims, and ride that reminds you it’s a ute first, lounge room second.
