isuzu mux common problems

The MU-X has a reputation for being a dependable packhorse, but even workhorses kick the fence now and then. Most issues are manageable if you’re on top of servicing—especially if you tow or tour.

  • DPF regeneration/clogging on earlier diesels with lots of short trips.
  • EGR/intake soot build-up over time.
  • Rear leaf-spring squeaks or sag; stock shocks can feel bouncy when loaded.
  • Tailgate/trim rattles and dust ingress from rear seals on gravel.
  • Infotainment/CarPlay hiccups on some early 2021–22 cars (software updates help).
  • Automatic transmission heat management when towing heavy—extra cooling and fluid changes are your mates.

Check for regular servicing, smooth DPF behaviour on a long test drive, and evidence of careful towing setup. Do that and it’ll haul the family, the dog, and half of Bunnings without much drama.
