On Australian-delivered Jeep Wranglers, the compliance plate/label is usually on the driver’s-side B‑pillar (open the right-front door and look on the door jamb).
On JK and JL generations (2007–present), it’s an adhesive label there; older TJ models may have a riveted plate in the engine bay on the firewall or inner guard.
The VIN is also visible at the base of the windscreen and appears on the door-jamb label, handy when you’re matching it to rego papers.
If it’s missing, damaged, or looks “home-made”, walk away or get it inspected—no 4x4 adventure is worth a bureaucratic cage match.
Buying sight-unseen on Tradingpost? Ask the seller for a clear photo of the label and the VIN before you pack the recovery gear.
