key finders

Key finders are those nifty little gadgets that save you from the eternal hunt for your keys, usually by attaching a small Bluetooth tracker to your keyring. Popular brands like Tile and Chipolo offer devices with Bluetooth range up to 60 metres and integration with smartphone apps to ring your keys or show their last known location.

Prices generally range from around $30 to $60 AUD for a single device, with multi-packs offering better value. Used options might pop up on Tradingpost but beware of dead batteries.

Key finders often come with community find features, where other users' apps help locate your lost item, which is a neat trick if you’re prone to losing things in public.

Just remember, if your keys fall into a black hole-like void, no gadget can save you — except perhaps a new set and a better memory.
