Hunting for the KTM VIN number? No, it’s not the big logo on the tank.
On most KTM motorcycles the 17-character VIN is stamped into the steering head/headstock (often on the right side) and repeated on the ADR/compliance plate on the frame; it’ll also be on your rego and insurance papers.
The 10th character typically indicates the model year, and remember the VIN is different from the engine number on the cases.
If the frame’s grimy, a quick clean of the headstock reveal usually exposes it; if it’s missing or tampered with, walk away and run a PPSR check before parting with cash.
Now you can quote it for parts, insurance, or when listing on Tradingpost, like a proper grown-up.
