The big LandCruiser 70 news is that Toyota finally sprinkled some modernity on the bush-basher: a 2.8‑litre four‑cylinder turbo‑diesel with a six‑speed auto joined the old-school V8 manual. There’s also a tidier front end, updated infotainment, and more driver-assist tech, though it still feels about as digital as a cattle dog with a flip phone. The vibe remains pure workhorse—payload and towing are still the headline acts—while comfort nudges forward without going soft. Demand has been sky-high in Australia, so wait times and price creep have been part of the story. In short: it’s still the tough one, just with a bit more tech and an easier life for your left calf.
