In 2023 the battery buzzword wasn’t magic, it was maturity: LFP went mainstream for affordable EVs, while NMC/NCMA cells squeezed more range without melting wallets.

Big talk on solid‑state continued, but what actually shipped were incremental gains—better silicon‑blended anodes, smarter thermal management, and faster charging curves.

Sodium‑ion made its first real appearances in China for city cars and storage, trading energy density for cost, cold‑weather manners, and cycle life.

Meanwhile, cylindrical “next‑gen” formats (think 4680‑style) ramped slowly, promising sturdier packs and simplified manufacturing rather than miracle range jumps.

Net result: cheaper packs per kWh, improved durability, and fewer cobalt headaches—evolution, not revolution, but your commute won’t know the difference.
