lct threshold 2022 Page 78

As thrilling as stamp duty, the LCT threshold for 2022 depends on the financial year and how thirsty your car is.

For 2021–22, it’s $79,659 (fuel‑efficient) and $69,152 (other vehicles); for 2022–23, it’s $84,916 (fuel‑efficient) and $71,849 (other).

Once your car’s GST‑inclusive price tips over the relevant threshold, the ATO clips 33% on the amount above it—because of course it does.

Figures apply 1 July to 30 June; check options, delivery and accessories, which can push you into LCT land. Consult official documentation for exact figures.
