Getting started as a learner driver in Victoria? Be at least 16, pass the learner permit test, and plaster those yellow L plates front and rear like a badge of honour.

Drive with a fully licensed supervisor, keep BAC at absolute zero, and put the phone away—yes, even hands‑free.

If you’re under 21, you’ll need at least 120 supervised hours including 20 at night before attempting your probationary licence.

You’ll also need to pass the Hazard Perception Test and the drive test; check VicRoads for the fine print and any rule tweaks before you book.
