In NSW, the front seat isn’t a theme park ride for kids; the rules are pretty clear.
Children under 4 can’t sit in the front if the car has two or more rows.
Kids aged 4 to under 7 may only sit up front if all the back seats are already filled by under‑7s, and they must be in the correct child restraint or booster.
From 7 years old, they can sit in the front legally, though safety types still prefer them in the back until about 12.
Buckle them into the right restraint, slide the seat back from the airbag, and save the front seat for those who’ve finished primary school.
