luxury car tax perth Page 9

Luxury Car Tax in Perth is exactly the same as anywhere else in Australia—it's a federal sting, not a WA special.

It kicks in when a car’s GST-inclusive value crosses the annual LCT threshold (higher for fuel‑efficient cars), and you’re charged 33% only on the amount above that line.

The ‘LCT value’ includes dealer delivery and factory accessories, but excludes stamp duty, rego, CTP, insurance and—mercifully—LCT itself.

Businesses and importers account for it, but the cost is typically baked into the drive-away price you’re quoted.

If you’re shopping near the threshold, check the current ATO thresholds for the financial year and watch options, wheels and sunroofs push you over.

Short version: same rules in Perth, just the sunshine is brighter when you’re paying it.
