For 2023–24 (from 1 July 2023), the Luxury Car Tax thresholds in Australia are $76,950 for standard vehicles and $89,332 for fuel‑efficient ones.

“Fuel‑efficient” means a rated consumption of ≤ 7.0 L/100 km on the ADR combined cycle (yes, EVs and many hybrids qualify).

LCT is charged at 33% on the portion of the GST‑inclusive price above the relevant threshold.

The LCT value includes factory/dealer options and delivery, but excludes LCT itself, registration, CTP and stamp duty.

It’s adjusted annually by the ATO, so double‑check the figures at purchase time unless you enjoy surprise tax bills.
