Ah, the Mahindra engine—reliable workhorses from the Indian automotive giant. These beasts typically boast diesel variants with 2.2 to 4.0-litre capacities, delivering anywhere between 75 to 140 kW of grunt. Known for ruggedness, they power everything from tractors to SUVs like the Scorpio and Thar. Expect decent fuel economy but a fair share of diesel clatter and vibrations. Common grumbles include:

• Turbocharger issues
• Injector wear
• Smoke on cold starts
