mazda cx5 mirrors not folding Page 13

When a Mazda CX-5’s mirrors refuse to fold, it’s usually down to settings, sticky pivots, or a sulky actuator rather than dark magic.

First, check the mirror fold button on the driver’s door and try a long press; if they fold with the button but not when locking, the auto-fold feature may not be available on your trim or may need enabling via the vehicle menu or a dealer.

Low battery voltage, a blown fuse, or a chafed door-jamb wiring loom can also stop both mirrors from playing ball, while a single lazy mirror often points to a tired motor.

Common culprits and quick checks:

• Clean and lubricate the mirror hinge with silicone spray
• Check the fuse for mirrors/accessories and inspect the door wiring boot
• Test lock/unlock to see if auto-fold triggers
• Try with the engine running to rule out low voltage
• Listen for a faint motor whirr; noise without movement suggests a gummed pivot

If none of that works, you’re likely up for an actuator or a wiring repair, so book a proper diagnosis before hurling parts at it.
