mazda reverse camera not working Page 810

If your Mazda’s reverse camera has decided to clock off just when you’re inching past a wheelie bin, don’t panic—start with the basics. Make sure the lens isn’t grubby, the display input is set correctly, and the car actually knows it’s in reverse (watch for the R indicator and reverse lights). Here are the usual culprits to check, ranked from “easy fix” to “why did I remove half the tailgate trim?”

• Blown fuse for the reverse light/camera circuit—check the fuse box and replace like-for-like.
• Tailgate wiring loom fatigue at the hinge—broken or brittle wires cause intermittent video.
• Loose or corroded camera connector behind the number-plate garnish or boot trim.
• Infotainment system glitch or low battery voltage—try a soft reset and ensure the 12V is healthy.

If those don’t revive it, the camera module or the reverse selector switch may be toast—time for a sparky or dealer to run diagnostics before you start buying parts on a hunch.
