mazda side mirror not folding Page 6

If your Mazda’s side mirror refuses to tuck in like a well-trained budgie, don’t panic.

Start with the simple stuff: make sure auto-fold is enabled in the vehicle settings (many Mazdas have it), try a lock–unlock cycle, and check the mirror fold switch isn’t stuck; a long press can reset some cars.

• Blocked or stiff hinge (grit, ice, dried grease) — gently fold by hand and lube with silicone spray.
• Blown mirror or door fuse or a weak 12V battery — low voltage makes the fold motor give up first.
• Failed fold motor or broken wiring in the door hinge loom — common after years of door swings.

If you hear grinding, the plastic gears are toast; replace the mirror assembly or motor rather than force it.

If none of that helps, an auto electrician can diagnose it quickly — and a replacement mirror is easy to source on Tradingpost or at a wrecker.
