medium suv reviews australia 2023 Page 8

Australia’s medium SUV crowd in 2023 was busier than a Bunnings sausage sizzle, and the big names brought their A-game. Toyota RAV4 (especially the Hybrid) nails economy and resale, but wait times and tyre roar can test zen. Mazda CX-5 charms with classy trim and a sweet drive, though rear space and infotainment feel a whisker old-school. Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage pile on tech and safety with long warranties; just watch higher trims creep into big-dollar territory and firmer rides. Subaru Forester’s practical cabin and real AWD shine, but the engine prefers a jog to a sprint; Nissan X‑Trail e‑Power is smooth and efficient but pricier. Short version: pick hybrid for fuel savings, turbo-petrol/diesel for punch, and test on your local roads before you hand over the bickies.
