mg3 vs kia rio Page 83

If you’re weighing up MG3 vs Kia Rio, you’re clearly budget-savvy and allergic to dealer mark-ups—good start.

MG3 pros: sharp drive-away pricing, long 7‑year warranty, simple 1.5 petrol that’s cheap to run, and a tiny footprint for city slots; cons: dated platform and cabin, limited safety tech on many years (often no AEB), a coarse 4‑speed auto, and noticeable road noise.

Kia Rio pros: tidier handling and refinement, broader safety suite available (including AEB on most later trims), solid build, and a cabin that feels a class up; cons: pricier on the used market, some base models feel a bit underpowered, and new stock has wrapped up in Australia so it’s a used hunt now.

Both sip modest fuel and are easy to park; the MG3 leans on price and warranty breadth, the Rio counters with polish and safety options.

Pick by priorities—dollar-stretching simplicity (MG3) or grown-up manners and safety kit (Rio)—and check the exact trim/year spec sheet before you hand over the folding stuff.
