mg zst core 2023 review

The MG ZST Core is the value play: big-car features for small change, with city-friendly manners and a cabin that’s more techy than you’d expect at this money.

The 1.5-litre engine is fine for commuting and school-run heroics, but ask it for overtakes and you’ll need patience and a long straight—thrills are not on the menu.

Ride comfort is decent, the steering is light, and you get a healthy dose of active safety kit and a modern touchscreen with phone mirroring.

Cabin plastics are on the hard-and-shiny side, road noise creeps in on coarse-chip bitumen, and keen drivers will find the drivetrain about as enthusiastic as a cat in a bathtub.

Running costs and the long warranty are the sweeteners, making it a sensible, no-fuss urban runabout if your priorities are space, gadgets, and price over pace.
