mobile phone use while driving Page 15

Using a mobile phone while driving is a recipe for disaster, and not just because it annoys the traffic gods. In Australia, it's illegal to hold or use a phone while driving unless it's hands-free. The penalties? Fines soaring up to $1000+ and potential demerit points that could wreck your license. Beyond the legal jab, using a phone distracts your eyes, hands, and mind, significantly upping the risk of accidents.

• Increased reaction times
• Divided attention leading to missed traffic signals
• Higher chance of collisions and near-misses

So, unless you want to play bumper cars with your wallet and safety, keep that phone tucked away or use hands-free tech while behind the wheel.
