motorcycle roadworthy requirements qld Page 4

Ah, the thrilling bureaucracy of riding legally in Queensland. To get your motorcycle roadworthy, it must pass a safety inspection ensuring key components are in tip-top shape. This includes working lights, indicators, brakes, tyres with legal tread depth, horn, mirrors, and a secure chassis. The Queensland Department of Transport mandates these checks to keep you and others on the road safe—not that riders always appreciate it.

You'll typically need a certificate of inspection (COI) from an authorised inspection station, which you can find through ServiceCentral or similar services. Costs vary but expect around $50 to $100 AUD for the inspection. Without this, registration renewal or transfer is a no-go.

Remember, these rules are as unbending as a kangaroo on a trampoline, so keep your bike compliant to avoid fines or, worse, a trip to the mechanic's waiting room.
