Bach JS – English Suites BWV 806–811

Bach’s English Suites are among the great works of the keyboard repertoire. Unlike the more intimate French Suites, these six suites have a grander and more virtuosic character, with each suite beginning with a Prelude in concertante style. This revised Henle Urtext Edition, edited by Ullrich Scheideler, is based on a careful study of the surviving contemporary manuscript sources. Authentic variants, particularly those concerning ornamentation, are documented and made accessible to the performer directly in the musical text. The edition includes carefully considered fingerings by Bach specialist Ekaterina Derzhavina, providing practical guidance for pianists exploring these important works.
