mux vs everest 2023 Page 96

The 2023 Isuzu MU-X and Ford Everest are both seven-seat, ladder-frame wagons—one’s the dependable workhorse, the other’s the tech-savvy show pony.

• MU-X pros: Tough 3.0‑litre diesel, relaxed touring manners, 3.5‑tonne towing, and running costs that won’t make your accountant weep.
• MU-X cons: Cabin and infotainment feel plain, ride can get jittery on corrugations, and active safety systems can be a bit nanny-ish.
• Everest pros: Plush interior, excellent road manners, strong safety tech, and optional V6 diesel with heaps of torque for towing and overtakes.
• Everest cons: Pricier to buy and insure, thirstier in V6 form, and some variants’ wait times could outlast a slow-cooked brisket.

Pick based on budget, tow needs, and how much you value creature comforts versus set-and-forget ruggedness, and you’ll be laughing either way.
