Ah, the joy of servicing your car—because ignoring it is only fun until that mysterious noise starts sounding like a banshee. Regular servicing keeps your motor running smoothly and can save you from unexpected breakdowns.

Typically, services are scheduled every 10,000 to 15,000 km or annually, whichever comes first. Expect oil changes, filter replacements, brake checks, and a thorough inspection of major systems.

Costs vary wildly: a basic logbook service can set you back anywhere from $200 to $500 AUD, while major services could push closer to $600 to $1,000 AUD depending on your vehicle and location. Used car buyers should also check service history rigorously.

For scheduling and service records, sites like ServiceCentral offer useful tools. Keep that engine purring, or pay the piper later.
