new car delivery time australia 2023 Page 3

In Australia through 2023, new‑car delivery times eased from peak chaos but still ranged from “a few months” to “grow a beard,” depending on the badge.

Expect roughly 2–6 months for mainstream hatchbacks and small SUVs, 3–9 months for popular utes and 4x4s, and up to 6–12 months for hot hybrids and some EVs—longer if you’re fussy about colour or options.

European premium models often sat in the 4–12 month window thanks to build slots and shipping roulette.

Flexibility is king: accept in‑stock spec, a different hue, or jump on cancelled orders to slash the wait; otherwise, consider nearly new options on Tradingpost to skip the queue.

Get ETAs in writing with an indicative delivery month, then check in periodically so your place in line doesn’t mysteriously wander off.
