new car wait time Page 8

Remember when buying a new car was “sign here, drive out”? Cute.

Supply has improved, but waits still vary: many mainstream models are in stock to 0–3 months, popular hybrids/EVs are often 3–12 months, and niche or premium stuff can be 6–12+ months.

Utes and family SUVs typically sit around 1–6 months, depending on trim, colour, and whether you’ve demanded a tow pack plus beige leather like a motoring influencer.

To speed things up, ask dealers about existing allocations, be flexible on spec, and consider demos or near-new stock on Tradingpost.

In short: patience is a virtue; a plan B is quicker.
