In 2023 Australia finally got a proper EV smorgasbord: Tesla Model 3/Y, BYD Atto 3, MG ZS EV, Polestar 2, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Cupra Born, and Volvo XC40/C40 Recharge.

Prices ranged roughly from AUD 44k–55k for value picks (MG, BYD) to AUD 60k–90k for mainstream heroes (Tesla, Hyundai, Kia), with premium badges sailing past AUD 100k.

Expect WLTP range around 320–550 km, and DC fast charging of 100–350 kW for 10–80% in about 18–40 minutes, depending on the model.

State perks helped too—rebates or duty/rego breaks in places like NSW, SA, WA and ACT—plus growing Chargefox/Evie networks and more Tesla Superchargers opening up.

Bottom line: plenty of choice, fewer excuses, and yes, your next servo stop might be coffee only. Consult official documentation for exact figures.
