Australia’s 2024 EV crop finally looks less niche club, more actual car park. New arrivals include the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra, the punchy Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, the tidy-value Volvo EX30, and BMW’s sleek i5; Volkswagen’s ID.4 and ID.5 are slated to land later in the year. Expect ranges roughly in the 300–600 km ballpark and charging speeds from everyday-friendly to “finish your flat white, it’s done” quick. Prices span sensible family SUV money to “yes, it’s a toy” territory. If you’re shopping used or near-new, Tradingpost can be a handy trawl for keenly priced examples. In short: more choice, fewer excuses—except maybe your driveway charger placement.
