new for old car insurance nrma Page 2

Chasing NRMA’s “new-for-old” car insurance? In plain English: if your fresh-off-the-lot pride and joy is written off early in its life, they’ll replace it with a new one—subject to the policy’s time limits, model availability, and all the fine-print goblins.

Eligibility typically hinges on comprehensive cover, the car’s age from first registration (often around the first 24 months), being the first registered owner, and a total-loss assessment.

You’ll still wear the excess, and on-roads/fees/rego are handled as per the PDS, so read it like it owes you money.

If your exact model’s discontinued, expect the nearest current equivalent or a payout, per the policy wording.

Bottom line: it’s a solid safety net for new cars—confirm the specifics in NRMA’s latest PDS before you sign anything braver than a gym waiver.
