new p plate rules Page 22

Ah, the thrilling rite of passage for Aussie newbies on the road: P plate rules. In most Australian states, new drivers must display red P plates for a minimum period—usually one year for provisional P1 and another year for P2, though specifics can vary. You're restricted to speed limits typically capped at 90 km/h for P1s, zero blood alcohol, and sometimes restrictions on passenger numbers and nighttime driving. These rules are designed to keep the roads safe while you fumble your way to competence.

Penalties for flouting these rules can be quite severe, including fines and license suspensions, so don’t treat them like mere suggestions. For exact details, check your state's transport authority website—and maybe keep an eye on Tradingpost or CarShowroom for P-plate cars that match your fledgling skills.
