newcastle 500 cancelled

Yes—the Newcastle 500 was cancelled for 2024 after the event agreement lapsed and negotiations with council didn’t land. Community impact, cost, and logistics all helped throw sand in the gears, so Supercars moved on rather than force a smoky burnout in a cul-de-sac. The season opener shifted to Bathurst for 2024, which is hardly a consolation prize unless you dislike mountains. There’s no confirmed return date; it’ll need a fresh deal and friendlier politics before the circus rolls back into town.
