newcastle car race 2023 Page 2

The 2023 Newcastle car race kicked off the Supercars season on the city’s bumpy, barrier-lined street circuit by the harbour. It also debuted the Gen3 era—Camaro versus Mustang—so yes, plenty of noise, new aero, and drivers rapidly learning where the walls live. The weekend delivered classic street-track chaos, safety cars, and enough post-race drama to keep the stewards busier than a servo on a long weekend. If you went, you got sunshine, seagulls, and V8 thunder; if you missed it, you skipped a proper reboot for the category in a postcard setting. In short: tight racing, short tempers, long debriefs—Newcastle did not disappoint.
