nissan pulsar 2005 problems Page 19

The 2005 Nissan Pulsar (N16) is a hardy little commuter, but age hasn’t exactly been kind to every nut and sensor.

Common issues owners report include:

• Crankshaft/camshaft position sensors causing stalling or hard starts; many were covered by recalls/service campaigns.
• Coil-on-plug misfires, especially under load, leading to rough running and poor economy.
• Front lower control arm bushes wearing out, bringing clunks, shimmy and uneven tyre wear.
• Power window regulators that give up, often one door at a time—because the universe loves symmetry.
• Oil leaks from the rocker-cover gasket and tired engine mounts adding vibration at idle.

On a test drive, listen for suspension knocks, check for stored fault codes, and remember it’s chain-driven, not belt. A well-serviced Pulsar is cheap to keep; a neglected one will nick your wallet like a seagull with hot chips.
