number plate value guide Page 52

Chasing a number plate value guide? In Australia, values hinge on state, format (low-digit numerics are king), rarity, and plain old demand.

Modern personalised combos often trade for a few hundred to a couple of thousand dollars, while rare heritage numerics can soar from tens of thousands into six or even seven figures.

Check recent auction results, private sale comps, and transfer rules for your state; plates aren’t cross-border, and fees or retention rights affect price.

Clean history, matching pair, and mint condition help; awkward letters (or, er, unfortunate words) don’t. For listings and price feelers, browse Tradingpost and dedicated plate auctions, then price with a little room to haggle.
