In Australia, a P-plate means you’re on a provisional licence—fresh off your Ls, not yet on your full ticket.
Most states have two stages: P1 (red) followed by P2 (green), each with display rules and tighter limits than full licence holders.
Expect zero BAC, strict mobile phone bans, lower speed ceilings in some states, passenger limits for younger drivers, and fewer demerit points to play with.
Stick the plates front and rear, drive like you’ve borrowed Mum’s car (because you probably have), and you’ll graduate to an unrestricted licence soon enough.
