p plater rules qld Page 5

Ah, the cherished P-plate rules in Queensland—the rite of passage for any Aussie learner eager to hit the roads sans supervision. In QLD, P1 drivers must display red P-plates and stick to a maximum speed of 90 km/h. They face a strict zero blood alcohol limit, plus restrictions on carrying passengers under 21 between 11 pm and 5 am—because, apparently, peer pressure is hazardous. After 12 months, you graduate to P2 plates (green), with a speed limit upped to 100 km/h and a still strict zero BAC. The entire probation lasts a whopping 2 years, so patience is a virtue.
