penalty for using phone while driving Page 3

Using your phone while driving in Australia is about as welcome as a flat tyre on the freeway. The penalty usually includes a hefty fine, often around $500, and a few demerit points—typically 4 points. Repeat offenders can expect the fines to climb and potentially face licence suspensions. The law is strict because distracted driving is a leading cause of accidents, so keep the phone in the glovebox unless you fancy a date with the magistrate.
