phone while driving victoria Page 13

In Victoria, if you’re holding or fiddling with a phone while driving, you’re doing it wrong — even stopped at the lights still counts as driving. Fully licensed drivers may use hands‑free or voice control with the phone properly mounted for navigation and calls; no texting, scrolling, filming, or the old “just a quick look, officer.” Learners and P1 drivers cop the strict end of the stick: no phone use at all, hands‑free included. The rules also extend to other gadgets like tablets and smartwatches, so keep your mitts off unless you’re parked in a legal spot. Fines and demerits bite, so let Siri do the tapping while you do the driving.
