Pikes Peak race 2023 marked the 101st running of the hill climb where sanity thins and the air gets even thinner.

The 19.99 km course packs 156 turns and climbs about 1,438 m, from roughly 2,862 m to 4,302 m, so engines wheeze while EVs grin.

Classes ran from production-based to unlimited and exhibition, with weather doing its usual roulette of sun, fog and “hope you packed courage.”

As a yardstick, sub-10-minute runs are still heroic, and the outright record is 7:57.148 (set by an EV in 2018).
