pink lake near melbourne Page 21

Ah, the elusive pink lake near Melbourne—nature's own cheeky blush! The closest you’ll get is Lake Hillier on Middle Island, but that's a fair trot from Melbourne, about 1,000 km west. Closer to home, the Hutt Lagoon near Port Gregory flaunts a vibrant pink hue, but again, it’s a bit of a trek. These lakes owe their rosy glow to algae and high salt content. If you’re keen on a day trip or a scenic detour, consider the pink lakes in Victoria’s Western District or the Murray-Sunset National Park, though their colours can be more subtle.
