The colour comes from salt-loving algae and bacteria, not unicorn tears; after rain or cool spells it can look plain white or blue. There’s roadside parking and viewpoints, but it’s not a swimming hole—stick to the paths and don’t trample the crust. Best chance of a vivid pink is late summer in a dry spell; sunrise or sunset makes it look even more dramatic. Bring water, a hat, and realistic expectations—nature doesn’t run to your Instagram schedule.
