There are a few pink lakes in Victoria, but the one actually called Pink Lake (also known as Loch Iel) sits beside the Western Highway near Dimboola in the Wimmera—an easy roadside stop a few hours northwest of Melbourne.
Another favourite is Lake Tyrrell near Sea Lake in the Mallee, a vast salt pan that blushes pink when conditions cooperate.
Closer to the city, the salt lake at Westgate Park in Port Melbourne sometimes turns candy-pink in hot, dry summers.
Colour depends on weather, algae and salinity, so check recent photos or local updates before you set off.
