Polestar 2 or Tesla 3: the sensible Swede versus the Silicon Valley extrovert, both quick enough to make petrol bowsers feel lonely.

Polestar 2 — Pros: classy Scandinavian design, quality cabin, Google built-in that behaves, and familiar physical controls; Cons: range/efficiency can trail equivalent Model 3 specs, smaller rear space, and reliance on third-party charging.

Tesla Model 3 — Pros: excellent efficiency and performance-per-dollar, broad Supercharger coverage in Australia, and frequent over-the-air updates; Cons: minimalist cabin with most controls buried in a screen, ride can be firm, and occasional quality niggles.

Prices and exact range/charging figures vary by trim and wheels, so check the spec sheets before you start an internet war.
