prism rainbow Page 2

Ah, the prism rainbow – nature’s way of showing off its colour palette, but with a bit of glass and angles. When white light hits a prism, it splits into its component colours due to varying wavelengths bending by different amounts, a phenomenon known as dispersion. The result? A neat spectrum from red to violet, much like a rainbow but on a pocket-sized scale.

Key facts: Light bends (refracts) when entering the prism, disperses into colours, then refracts again on exit, creating that glorious fan of hues. This isn’t magic – it’s just physics with a flair for drama. For more dazzling demos, check out educational resources or physics sections on sites like ServiceCentral.
