private car sale contract template Page 2

Want a private car sale contract template that isn’t 14 pages of legalese? Keep it simple and include: seller and buyer full names, addresses and licence numbers; vehicle details (year, make, model, VIN, rego, odometer); price, deposit, settlement date/time and location; a clear-title warranty (no finance owing); “sold as is” condition; and signatures with the date. Add the magic words: “Seller warrants the vehicle is unencumbered and free of security interests,” and both parties should sight photo ID and swap a receipt. Do a PPSR check before paying the balance, note all keys and accessories handed over, and record any known faults. After the handshake, lodge transfer/notice-of-disposal with your state authority (e.g., VicRoads, Service NSW, TMR) and update insurance immediately. That’s your neat, roadworthy little contract—no QC needed, just common sense.
