qashqai 2023 review Page 2

The 2023 Nissan Qashqai finally feels grown-up, like it swapped the skinny jeans for decent boots and a proper tool belt.

Under the bonnet is a 1.3‑litre turbo petrol with a smooth CVT feeding the front wheels, delivering easy overtakes and real‑world economy in the mid‑6s L/100km if you behave.

Inside, materials and space are up, with clear screens, wired Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay on most trims, plus a suite of active safety that helped it to a 5‑star ANCAP rating.

Ride and refinement are its party tricks, though the steering’s more Netflix than Nürburgring and there’s no all‑wheel‑drive option for Aussie buyers.

Pricing sits in the mid‑$30k to high‑$40k AUD bracket before on‑roads, which is fair given the kit but a whisker above some rivals.

If you want a quiet, polished suburban operator rather than a back‑road hooligan, this one’s your friendly, efficient accomplice.
